An original “rooming house” built in the 1880 when GE growth was exploding and housing was short and in demand. Reverend Dr Bacchus, of the Dutch church an eye shot of his estate at 6 Union St, proposed to his wife they use their land east of their home to construct a 6 unit Rooming house with a first floor grand entrance with a veranda overlooking Union. When he passed, his wife lead the charge and moved ahead with its construction. Today it is a solid, 7 unit with 6 2 bedroom and 1 one bedroom at its ground level. What is unique about this building is that it is not a sectioned off mansion, but an original construction purposed for rooming as it continues today.
